Shoyeido Charcoal: Rectangular and Square
Shoyeido Charcoal: Rectangular and Square
Shoyeido's well-apportioned Miyako Sumi charcoals light easily and offer great versatility. Use with glazed ceramic Incense Bowls and White Ash. Wonderful for direct burning or the traditional Soradaki preparation of incense. Use with the Mica Plate for slow burning woodchip, resin and cone incense.
How to use: Fill a ceramic incense holder with White Ash and tamp the ash down to create a level bed. Place the charcoal in the middle of the ash and light the block around the edge. Wait for the charcoal to start burning, a fine grey ash will develop, carefully place the Mica Plate onto the charcoal using the small tongs. The wood chips etc can then be placed on the plate and will begin slow burning. Once the charcoal and incense has been used up remove the Mica Plate and stir their ash into the White Ash. The mica can be cleaned if necessary with warm soap water.
