Quite possibly one of our favourite products…. and now in colours! The roots can still be seen but the new version adds a beautiful pop of colour.
The Acorn Vase has been developed by Ilex Studio in London. Their motto is ‘Let’s grow more trees!’ and we wholeheartedly agree!
Oaks are well suited to Australia’s climate and are quite drought tolerant. While we firmly advocate native plantings oak trees have the ability to create micro-climates and were often planted around farmhouses to slow down bushfires as they did not give off volatile oils the way eucalypts etc would in such conditions.
The vase when filled with water will magnify the growing roots and it is a fascinating to watch the palling grow. Once it has used up the energy stored in the acorn the oakling can be planted into a pot with soil and moved outside. When big enough it can be planted out into the garden.
The vase comes with a booklet and when we can, due to state regulations, we will also send out a sprouted acorn. You can also use the vase to grow bulbs inside.
