Robert Tavener (1920–2004) was born in London and became Head of Printmaking at Eastbourne College of Art in 1953, later serving as Vice-Principal until his retirement in 1980. A Senior Fellow of the Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers, he was highly regarded for his distinctive prints celebrating the British landscape and architecture. His work is represented in more than 25 public collections, including the Victoria and Albert Museum.
