Tristram Hillier (1905–1983) was an English painter associated with Surrealism and Modernism. He studied at the Slade School of Fine Art under Henry Tonks before moving to Paris, where he was influenced by Braque, Picasso, de Chirico, and Max Ernst. In the early 1930s, he developed his distinctive style and joined Paul Nash’s Unit One group. Hillier’s work is represented in the Tate and numerous public and private collections worldwide.
